Jean has been making a life as an eclectic artist on the page, the stage, the screen, in the music studio and the audio booth. He's also been found in Central Park, NYC, playing the accordion.
Recipient of an Earphones Award for Louise Penny’s  The Grey Wolf and selected by Audiofile Magazine as a Best Audiobook Narration of 2024, Jean is the narrator of more than 80 audiobooks in English and French (for both Quebec and Europe), and is excited for the follow up the story, The Black Wolf.  Other great narrations include  the English version of the Prix Goncourt 2018, And Their Children After Them by Nicolas Mathieu, Emmanuel Macron’s Revolution and a few James Paterson thrillers as well as Canadian Eric Dupont’s international saga The American Fiancee, the gothic cult tale The Werewolf of Paris, Canadian J.Robert Janes’ St-Cy and Kohler Mystery crime series.
Featured in Paul Schrader’s new film Oh, Canada, and Ari Selinger’s On The End, Jean can be seen in many HBO series, including The Staircase, John Adams, Sex and The City and The Sopranos as well as in seasons of CBS MacGyver, NBC The Blacklist and EMMY and Golden Globe award-winning series The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, Ramy and Escape at Dannemora. Also: Person of Interest, The Wizard of Lies, House of Cards, Zero Hour, 30 Rock, John Adams. In movies: The Fault In Our Stars,; A Call To Spy. Other movies include The Caller, Death in Love, Ten Stories Tall, Mango Bajito and J.C. Khoury’s romantic cult comedy The Pill. He received critical praise from the New York Times among others for his role as Ambassador in Film Chinois at Pan Asian Rep and in Theater Pizzaz for The Lears.
Well known to French-speaking wrestling fans for his commentary on the WWE Network, Jean is also an accomplished singer-songwriter and cabaret performer; his homage to Charles Aznavour “I Have Lived,” received to both great reviews and popular acclaim in New York and London. He is a BISTRO and AGGIE awards recipient for his tribute show “The Kid From Paris – Jean Brassard Sings Yves Montand” for which he also garnered a MAC nomination; the show has traveled in the States, Canada and Europe. In New York he has performed at New York’s Birdland’s, Laurie Beechman Theater, Metropolitan Room, The Triad, Helen’s Hideaway and The CafĂ© at the Pierre Hotel; Jean was also awarded a NightLife Award. He was seen at Symphony Space’s Wall To Wall Cabaret alongside Uteh Lemper and many cabaret greats. He also represented Quebec at the first Manhattan International Cabaret Festival in 2016. With Le Gamin de Paris CD, his homage to Montand, his album DIX, a collection of his own compositions, has been praised by the press.Â
As a playwright, Jean is the author of: Forever, A Thousand Julys, Where The Waters Run Deep, Queen Jo, Candies, Foot on a Bridge, Small World and Short-Circuit.
